Stars in My Eyes

posted by Christine Wells

Today it's my pleasure to host a dear friend and wonderful romance writer, Anna Campbell. Anna's burning hot new release, CAPTIVE OF SIN, is blazing a trail to a bookstore near you very soon. I was privileged enough to read this book in manuscript form and it's one of the most wildly romantic historical romances you'll read, with gorgeous Gideon as the darkly beautiful tortured hero. Welcome to Popculturedivas, Anna!

Hiya Divas! And a special hiya to the fabulous Christine Wells who invited me here today to talk about something diva-ish. Lotsa pictures she said. Video links if you can do them. Something snappy.

Oh, dear, I thought. What can I do?

Then I reached for my jar of inspiration on the pantry shelf, popped up the lid and guess what I found?

A BUCKETLOAD OF GORGEOUSNESS, THAT’S WHAT!

One of the loveliest things about being a romance writer is that you can look at pretty pictures of a handsome man and actually call it work. Not everything about being a writer is quite so cushy, but this is definitely among the perks.

My hero of CAPTIVE OF SIN, Sir Gideon Trevithick is of the tall, dark and handsome ilk. He’s Cornish and Cornish people are often dark, a fact sometimes credited to Spanish sailors who washed up on shore after the Armada. Actually there’s a kind of Armada story in Gideon’s family background too!

Here’s the blurb for CAPTIVE OF SIN which is out in America on 27th October. I can hardly wait!

He pledged his honor to keep her safe . . .

Returning home to Cornwall after unspeakable tragedy, Sir Gideon Trevithick comes upon a defiant beauty in danger, and vows to protect her whatever the cost. He’s dismayed to discover that she’s none other than Lady Charis Weston, England’s wealthiest heiress—and that the only way to save her from the violent stepbrothers determined to steal her fortune is to wed her himself! Now Gideon must hide the dark secrets of his life from the bride he desires more with every heartbeat.

She promised to show him how to love—and desire--again . . .

Charis has heard all about Gideon, the dangerously handsome hero with the mysterious past. She’s grateful for his help, but utterly unwilling to endure a marriage of convenience—especially to a man whose touch leaves her breathless. Desperate to drive him mad with passion, she would do anything to make Gideon lose control—and fall captive to irresistible, undeniable sin.

You can read an excerpt here

When I start a new book, I often use a real person as a physical model for my hero and heroine. As the character develops, the relationship to that original image gets more distant. The character starts to exist in their own right. But a real-life counterpart really helps at that initial stage.

The gorgeous Gideon was physically based on Richard Armitage. This will come as no surprise to Christine who knows I have a huge crush on Mr. A. [CW: No surprise at all!!]

Anyway, just in case you have never seen Richard Armitage in action, or you have but would like to see him again – and who could blame you? – here are two lovely videos. One is a scene that made women all over the world go weak at the knees. It’s the closing moments from the BBC’s magnificent adaptation of Elizabeth Gaskell’s NORTH AND SOUTH.

Sigh!

Here’s another one that I’m not sure has made it to America as it comes from a Christmas special they made for the VICAR OF DIBLEY. Geraldine, the vicar who sings the song, has a huge crush on a newcomer to the village, Harry, but she’s convinced he’s in love with this gorgeous blonde she’s seen him with. Gorgeous blonde ends up being his sister – yes, I know that’s a tired plot device you wouldn’t get away with in a romance novel! But this gem of a clip comes from Geraldine’s fantasy of her crush marrying the OTHER WOMAN! Watch for a very sexy glint!

Just to finish with something yummy that has absolutely nothing to do with CAPTIVE OF SIN, I recently saw a really good movie called EASY VIRTUE featuring Jessica Biel, Colin Firth and Ben Barnes. The film is set among England’s aristocracy in the 1920s and it depicts the hijinks that ensue when the heir (Barnes) marries an American racing car driver (Biel). One of the best scenes in the film is this sexy tango with Jessica and Colin at a very starchy upper crust ball. The music in the video is different to the film but I’m sure you’ll get the idea of how delicious this is.

Sometimes I LOVE my job!

So do you have any favorite scenes in movies or TV shows that make your knees go weak? I’m always happy to add to my collection. My pick of the answers wins a signed copy of CAPTIVE OF SIN so you can compare Gideon to Richard! Now, doesn’t that sound like a tough assignment? Good luck!

  1. Just off to bed (it's late here in Oz!) but I'd like to warmly welcome you to Popculturedivas today, Anna! I hope you enjoy your stay.

Weak at the knees scenes... I have plenty of those! What about the scene in the rain in the Keira Knightly Pride & Prejudice where Darcy proposes for the first time? Loved that "almost" kiss.

  2. G'DAY! Welcome Anna! So glad you're visiting us at popculturedivas.

Thanks Christine for bringing Anna to us. Well, I must say I think Richard Armitage gets all the gals going 'round here. You'll have to fight our Julia Smith for him though - I do believe she has first dibs! LOL I adore him too. I LOVED him in NORTH AND SOUTH and in Robin Hood. But I think he's terrific in SPOOKS (MI5). So gorgeous and talented. I do hope he breaks through into international fame and movies soon so we can see more of him everywhere. He has the voice to go with it too. I think there is many a woman who wouldn't mind hearing him growling "Good morning" in her ear. I sure as heck wouldn't throw him out of bed for eating crackers.

Okay - weak in the knees scenes - well there are many. I also love when Darcy confesses his love to Elizabeth in the Keira Knightly P and P - he kind of stumbles - gets out "I love" then has to start over.

Also it's not a romantic movie but can't help but love Russell Crowe in Gladiator - his entire "BEING" in that movie was just so amazing.

Next - I know he was the bad boy in "Bridget Jones's Diary" - the movie but when Daniel Cleaver/Hugh Grant discovers Bridget's granny panties and proceeds to seduce her - well I'm sure women around the world were applauding!

The weak-in-the knees scene in Bridget Jones comes when Mark Darcy/Colin Firth (sigh) tells Bridget he "likes her just the way she is" (double sigh).

Now a question for you Anna - what inspires your books/writing - how do you go from a blank page to an actual idea?

Thanks so much for stopping by. Can't wait to check out your new book! Your hero sounds devine!

  3. Hi Anna,

Can't wait for the release of Captive of Sin!

Hmmm, scenes that make my heart go pitter-patter. Anna, remembering your comments the other day about Last Of The Mohicans, I recall that scene where Daniel Day Lewis comes running through a raging battle to rescue the heroine. There's blood and guts and gore all around, but he's totally focused on reaching her, and he won't let anything get in his way. Oh, and all the beautiful long hair streaming out behind him!

In another scene from the same movie, Hawkeye takes Cora to a secluded corner of the fort to make love to her. That kiss was totally knee-melting...as was his admonition to her when they're about to get captured that she has to stay alive. No matter what, stay alive and he'll find her.

Sigh. What a passionate, soul-stirring movie!

    ReplyDelete
  4. I love the moment when Rhett Butler tells Scarlet that she should be kissed properly and often! *Sigh*

I have to second the Last of the Mohicans moments as well.

And, as cliche as it has become, I love that moment in Jerry Maguire when he says "You complete me." Really, who wouldn't want to hear that from their man?

    ReplyDelete
  5. Danielle, that Jerry Maguire moment was great, but now all I can think about is when the Joker says that to Batman in the Dark Knight!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Joanna, I'm jealous that you've seen Spooks. I haven't found it south of the 49th at all! Richard Armitage... sigh. He's my inspiration for Archer Kane in When Seducing a Duke. He's just fabulous.

Weak in the Knees scenes? When Hugh Dancy kisses Maria Bello in The Jane Austen Book Club. And when Hawkeye and Hot Lips got stranded in an episode of M*A*S*H and kissed (and other things that were left to the imagination!).

    ReplyDelete
  7. Hi Anna! Okay, so here I sit all in a puddle over the final scene from NORTH AND SOUTH...again. ::Sigh::

That clip from VICAR OF DIBLEY is hysterical! I love British humor. :)

Vanessa, I have to agree with you on the Hawkeye/Cora scenes. They are at the top of my list. I can't drive through those mountains (I live just south of where the movie was filmed) without it all coming back to me...including the magnificent musical score.

Kathryn, I loved that episode with Hawkeye and Hot Lips. Also, their final goodbyes in the series-ending episode. So poignant.

Anna, I can't wait for Captive of Sin to arrive!

  8. Hiya Miss Wells! Thank you so much for inviting me here today. Isn't this a cool site? Love it!

The sun is just peeking over the horizon here on the Sunshine Coast and I'm looking forward to discussing weak at the knees scenes. Yum!

Oh, what a good choice! I LOVE that scene. I love the bit at the end too in the morning mist although I really think he OUGHT to have kissed her!

    ReplyDelete
  9. Hey, Jojo! I love this site! Thanks for having me as a guest. What a fabulous list of weak at the knees moments - and I'm sure I've got first dibs on RA, not Julia. Sorry, Julia! ;-)

I thought RC was fabulous in Gladiator. And what an amazing soundtrack! He was the ultimate tortured hero in that, wasn't he?

Actually a couple of oldies but goodies that always make me go weak at the knees both involve Audrey Hepburn. The first is the scene in the rain at the end of Breakfast at Tiffany's and the other is that heart-stoppingly sexy and still funny scene when she and Peter O'Toole are trapped in the cupboard in How to Steal a Million. I love that film.

Oh, and here's another that always makes my heart go pittapat. The scene where Rex Harrison gives up Gene Tierney (he thinks for her own good, silly man) in The Ghost and Mrs. Muir. He runs through all the amazing experiences they'll never have together and I'm getting goosebumps even talking about it!

  10. What a great question about how I get started. Often the idea comes to me out of nowhere - usually a first scene, a hero and heroine and often a problem. The weird thing is I never get ideas when I say, "I must have an idea NOW!!" They seem to come when I'm relaxed and strangely usually when water's involved. The book I'm about to start in a week or so came to me while I was at the beach and just lying in bed listening to the sea. Claiming the Courtesan and Untouched both came to me in the bath. I had a very inspirational diva bath in Sydney that I miss - not least because that's where I got my best ideas! Then I let the idea stew for a while (I'm generally writing something else when the new idea occurs so can't do much with it at the time anyway). If it's a good idea, it works like a magnet and attracts other ideas to it until I've got a lump of material to work with. If it's not a good idea, it dies a natural death ;-) I'm a pantser so then when I'm ready to start, I sit down and start writing and see where the story takes me, although I usually have vague ideas for future scenes (they usually change as the book develops, though). It's a scary process!

  11. Hi Vanessa! Lovely to see you! Ooooh, you're so right about The Last of the Mohicans. Stay Alive! I Will Find You!!!! Actually there's another really sexy scene when he's just staring at her in the infirmary and she gets snippy and asks him what he's looking at and he says, "I'm staring at you, Miss." And their eyes meet and...wow! Actually that's another movie with a fabulous soundtrack! I think my heroes and DDL in that film have quite a lot in common - my heroes are generally completely focused on the heroine from the first. No slow fall for these guys! They tend to know what they want the minute they see it!

  12. Hi, Christine and Anna!

Anna, I think I watched that 'Vicar' ep with you. Hilarious!

You know, my day job involves watching TV shows and movies all day long. Sadly, I can't think of anything that has affected my knees more than 'Dirty Dancing'. Not actual dirty dancing, but the scene just before the big dance number, when Patrick stands up to Baby's father and then sweeps Baby away.

Great blog, Christine--I'll have to hang out here more often!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Hey, Danielle, great list! I love the bit in GWTW where he carts her up the stairs. Yeah, I know it's not politically correct but it's way sexy! Actually Dirty Dancing is another film that's full of weak at the knees moments for me - love that movie! Nobody puts Baby in the corner! Love the bit where she says she's scared of walking out and never feeling again what she feels with Johnny Castle. Sigh!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Snort, Vanessa! Sometimes those spoof things have a lot to answer for, don't they? Actually I remember years ago reading For Whom the Bell Tolls. The characters keep asking each other if the sex made the earth move for them. I suspect it's the first time that actually appeared but it's such a cliche now that it just made me giggle.

Reminds me of the funny story about the old lady in England who went to her first play - Hamlet. When someone asked her later what she thought of it, she said she didn't like it because it was full of cliches!

    ReplyDelete
  15. Where are my manners? I'll get thrown out of Almack's! Christine, I wanted to thank you for that lovely introduction too! I remember how incredibly stoked I was when you loved Captive of Sin!

    ReplyDelete
  16. Hi Christine, how are you? Fabulous of you to invite Anna just in time for her to talk about 'Captive of Sin'. Like you I read it in ms form and I know lovers of intense, passionate romance have a real treat in store for them. I'm so looking forward to reading it again!

Anna, I love the way you can drool over Richard Armitage and call it research. Any excuse! As you know, I'm always on the lookout for a new RA appearance to tell you about. 'That' kiss in 'North and South' really hits the spot, doesn't it?

Actually, one scene that makes me melt (and it's not a kiss) is in the recent 'Casino Royale' when Daniel Craig finds his heroine sitting huddled in the shower, shocked after witnessing violence and trying to get warm in the water. He sits down beside her, puts his arm round her and tugs her close - no words spoken. When I saw that scene it really worked beautifully in depicting that tender protectiveness that I love in a hero.

    Annie

  17. I loved the scene in Dirty Dancing where Patrick S. tells Baby's parents "no body puts Baby in the corner "and than takes her on to the dance. susan L.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Kate, hey, that's right, you hang out here, don't you? Great to see you and congratulations on When Seducing a Duke! It's getting some great buzz. Oh, that scene in the Jane Austen Book Club - I thought that was a really nice movie and my expectations weren't high. I loved the Hugh Dancy character in that - he was a bit like DDL and my heroes, he knew what he wanted the minute he saw it and he was willing to put in the hard yards to get it. Yum! I always find that appealing in a man!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Hey, PJ, great to see you here! And thanks for saying you're looking forward to Captive of Sin. Not long now! Another LOTM fan. Seriously, that film makes me weak at the knees right from that first scene with that amazing music and DDL running through the woods. Honestly, does he ever STOP running in that film? Glad you got a kick out of the Vicar of Dibley. One of the things I find immensely attractive about RA is that he doesn't take himself too seriously. And when you hear him interviewed, he's so charming and modest - always talking about other people's achievements rather than his own. Sigh! You can see why he's such an inspiration for a hero or two!

    ReplyDelete
  20. Oh, Jojo, I love the big girl panties scene, too! Enjoyed HG playing a cad, actually. He was typecast as a bumbling nice guy for a while.

And can I just say "shiverssss" when you mentioned RA growling good morning??

    ReplyDelete
  21. Wonderful moment in cinema history, Vanessa! DDL was so deliciously intense.

Thanks for dropping in to comment today.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Danielle, I've never seen Jerry Maguire but it sounds like I missed something special. Must go and rent it now:) Thanks for stopping by!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Kathryn S, you MUST get hold of Spooks with RA in it. 2 of my favourite things together! He is amazing. I can't wait for the next series.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hey, V, I knew you'd come and talk about the many virtues of Dirty Dancing. I think there's such a lot of heart in that film and that's what people respond to. I love how both Baby and Johnny grow through falling in love - they're better people at the end than they were in the beginning and that's a lovely arc to follow. I love the scene when they giggle when they dance too and the bit in the water. And the bit where he watches her get changed in the rearview mirror!

    ReplyDelete
  25. PJ, can I say how much I am loving your avatar? Is that a hint of things to come?

Thanks so much for dropping in to say hello. I watched MASH as a youngster so I can't remember whether my heart went pitty-pat or I just said Ew! and looked away. Given the characters, I bet there was a lot of tension in that scene!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ooh, Annie, I'd forgotten that beautiful scene in Casino Royale! Love it when the tough guy shows his vulnerable, tender side. Yum! And the wet shirt didn't hurt either. Yeah, I know, I'm shallow.

Thanks so much for swinging by. It's always lovely to see you. And thank you for saying such wonderful things about Captive of Sin. Christine and Annie get my book in rough form and help me slash and burn until it turns from a jungle into a parterre - or at least that's the idea ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Susan, another Dirty Dancing fan? Love it! Actually one of the scenes that always gets me in that film isn't one of the romantic ones - it's the one where Baby talks to her dad on the verandah and they love each other so much and they're hurting each other so much. Really great acting! And you feel so much for both of them! Thanks for swinging by. Or perhaps dirty dancing by?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Anna, I always love to hear about writers' processes. Your 'idea' process sounds remarkably similar to mine. People ask me if I write ideas down and I say no, it has to be strong enough to stay with me, in my head and develop by itself before I will put pen to paper. Or fingertips to keyboard! So agree about water. I wish water wasn't such a precious commodity here. I used to get a lot out of those looong showers!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Anna, you're in good company with your heroes. I always remember Stephanie Laurens saying you need your hero to focus totally on the heroine from the get-go. It's a great rule to live by.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Laughing at you girls and the good morning growl. Yeah, I guess it works for me too ;-)

I think Hugh is a wonderful cad!

Actually I've thought of another knee-weakening moment. In the Anthony Andrews Scarlet Pimpernel when he's adopted his fop persona and his wife tries to break through to the man she fell in love with. He thinks she's working for the French and has sent an aristocratic family to the guillotine so he keeps up his barriers. But his eyes! In his eyes, you know his heart is just breaking. Sigh. I LOVE that adaptation. He's a wonderful Sir Percy!

    ReplyDelete
  31. Vanessa B--we'd love to have you here more often! Jojo has done a marvellous job with this blog, hasn't she?

Dirty Dancing is a special movie to me for all kinds of reasons. Love that bit where he sweeps her away and it's raining and he kicks the post and breaks in the car window. Sigh!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Christine, whenever Stephanie Laurens speaks, I LISTEN!!!!! She really has some fantastic insights into the magic of the romance genre. Such a role model!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Thanks, Christine! Yes, it is a hint of things that are coming very soon. :)

Isn't that funny about water? I get my best ideas while standing under the shower.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Oh, Christine, how can I have forgotten that scene. It's SOOOOOO cool!

    ReplyDelete
  35. Anna, LOL about the old lady dissing Hamlet! Oh, you did thank me, don't be silly. Your manners are always, impeccable, m'dear!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Ohh Annie, I love that scene in the shower, too! Craig is such a fantastic Bond. He really revitalized the role, I think.

Thanks so much for dropping in.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh, I adored Anthony Andrews in The Scarlet Pimpernel! He was so very good in that role. Hard to believe it's been 27 years since that aired here. I remember it vividly.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Anna, I so agree about RA. He's not only hot, phenomenally talented (not just as an actor but in other aspects of the business, too) but he's highly intelligent, modest and charming. Hmm, great romance hero material, in fact!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Oh, yes, Susan. Love that bit from Dirty Dancing! I think it's so hot when a hero shows other people the heroine is worthy of respect. Sigh.

    ReplyDelete
  40. The very first one was in the fifth grade, they were rereleased GWTH in the theatres (it was 68, not 38, really) Rhett grabbed Scarlett and strode up those stairs. Whooo baby.

I can't wait to read this book. Thanks fo rthe head up.

    ReplyDelete
  41. The Scarlet Pimpernel is also such a sigh-worthy movie (and book, of course!). Love that trope where the hero maintains a despicable facade for some noble reason. I have to say it's a pity about Jane Seymour in that movie, but AA was just the ticket. The one with Ashley from GWTW was great also.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Flip, you'll love COS!

And even if I might not like it in real life, in fiction, I do adore a masterful man. Scarlett SO deserved that sweep up the staircase. And she looked pretty pleased with the situation the next morning, didn't she?

    ReplyDelete
  43. PJ, I had it on video and lent it to someone who has since claimed she never saw it, no, Officer, I wasn't there. I can't blame her for kidnapping gorgeous Anthony. Well, actually I CAN!!!! Anyway, I got it out on DVD within the last year and it's just as gorgeous as ever. Sink me, m'dear!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Christine, something that made me weak at the knees was a blog somewhere where Richard talked about the books he reads. He's a seriously smart guy - all that gorgeousness AND HE READS? O, be still my beating heart!

    ReplyDelete
  45. Flip, that's when I saw GWTW for the first time too. I remember as a kid, all those people dying just got to me! But even at that early age, I remember my heart fluttering in the stair scene! Thanks for swinging by! So glad COS has taken your fancy!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Hi Anna and Christine
What a great post there have been many movies over the years that have had scenes that have made me weak at the knees LOL, Dirty Dancing as some have already mentioned and An Affair To Remember there are lots of moments in that movies with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr especially when he finds her at the end and she is on the lounge I love it.

    Have Fun
    Helen

    ReplyDelete
  47. Oh, Helen, I ALWAYS cry in that scene in Affair. It's one of the very few DVDs I own and I always go back to it. The story could have been corny if not for the amazing writing and those two brilliant actors! Thanks for visiting us over here:)

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh, Helen, how could I forget an Affair to Remember? Especially as it was the springboard for Tempt the Devil! You're right - that bit at the end is wonderful. Or when they go and see the grandmother and you can see they're both falling in love, completely against their will. Great stuff! That's SUCH a romantic movie!

    ReplyDelete
  49. Oh yes when they go and visit Nicky's grandmother just thinking about it brings tears to my eyes

    Have Fun
    Helen

    ReplyDelete
  50. It's lovely, isn't it, Helen? And then that's such skilfull writing when they bring that event up in the painting at the end.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hi, Anna!! Hi, Christine!! Anna, congrats on Captive of Sin--we can our very own copies sooooon!

As for TV or movie moments? I don't watch many movies, but I was a sap for Friends, so I loved many moments during that series--mostly those reveals or near reveals of their feelings for each other. I'm especially a sucker for Chandler and his goofy humor, so seeing him serious was such an "awwww" kind of thing :)

Lots of movies to add to the rental list!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Fedora, actually it's incredibly powerful when someone steps outside their persona to reveal their inner selves, isn't it? I 100% agree with you. I think that's one of the reasons the tough guy brought to his knees by love scene is always such a good one. Hey, all these movies are great!

    Not long till COS!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  53. The scene that popped out on my mind when i read this, still, my favorite all the time is when Jerry Maguire said 'you complete me', and Renee Zellweger said,' you had me at Hello, you had me at Hello.'
It's great to have you here Anna!

    ReplyDelete
  54. 52 comments!?!? You'd think people were talking about Richard Armitage or something. Sink me, I can hardly bring myself to look upon 'em.

Anna - some day when we both meet up and are linked arm in arm with RA himself, we can explain that we've both claimed dibs on him and he will somehow make us both feel that it is entirely possible for us both to claim that title. Because he's dreamy that way.

I'm already drooling over your book now that I now that the tormented Gideon is really Richard. (Let me wipe my chin.)

I'm beyond excited that you've made your visit at Popculturedivas into such a party. You're amazing.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Oooh, Anna! You know I love 'North and South' as well. That kiss on the platform is positively perfect! *sigh* (I won't even mention the former US Deputy Secretary of State. *eg*)

I loved the scene in "The Bourne Identity" when Jason is helping Marie dye her hair. You can tell she wants him in a bad way, even though he is beyond dangerous and mysterious and then they finally(!) kiss. Matt Damon looked incredible in that movie. I'm getting chills thinking about it!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Oh my I've just had a ball reading all the comments! Where to begin! I ADORE Anthony Andrews and LOVE LOVE LOVED him as the Scarlet Pimpernel! Definitely sigh worthy! They seek him here they seek him there. That damn elusive Pimpernel.

Anna thank you for telling us about your inspirations - and Christine as well - you know I'm "slowly" working on my first book (eek just saying it makes me scared) and the idea is just playing out in my head mostly - I feel lazy because I haven't written as much as I should - but I feel like I have to see the story in my head first. So glad to hear that actual published authors do the same! LOL. Thanks so much for stopping by! I think we've set a record with number of comments! woohoo! All this talk about Richard Armitage I think! ;D

    ReplyDelete
  57. Hi, Christine and Anna! I'm ashamed to say I've never seen NORTH AND SOUTH. Shame on me! The only thing I've seen Richard Armitage in is BBC's Robin Hood. I do love him as Sir Guy Gisbon, however!

Can't wait for the release of Captive of Sin, Anna. Lucky us, that it's coming to the States before Oz :-D.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hi Fedora, great to see you here! Friends, huh? I've seen many episodes but I always seem to miss the really sloppy good moments.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Mariska, clearly, I need to watch Jerry Maguire. The only quote I ever heard from it was "Show me the Money"! Which didn't really appeal. Sounds like it's a lovely romance, too.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Julia, Anna is indeed the party Queen! And sorry but WHO introduced you to Nth&Sth, huh, Anna, huh?

btw Julia did you add an extra piccie of RA to my blog, hmm?

    ReplyDelete
  61. Ooh, Caren, the Bourne Identity! Sounds like a really tense scene. Gotta love those first kisses!

    ReplyDelete
  62. Christine - that was me ;) I added the extra pic of Richard - I just couldn't resist - so gorgeous! LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  63. And if Kathryn Smith is stopping back again - you've got to get Spooks on DVD - sure it's out - surprised it's not out on BBC America yet.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Jojo, you'd better watch out that Kayla doesn't hear you say that!

Actually, there comes a time when you have to get the words on the page. And truthfully, you do get inspired most often *while* writing. C'mon, Jojo, we all wanna read this book!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Oh, it was you Jojo! Thanks for brightening up the blog! I could look at him all day.

Have you seen that youtube vid of RA that's set to the music of Sexy Back? Delicious!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Hey, Mariska, great to see you too! Another vote for Jerry Maguire. Actually what I find interesting is it's often not the hot and heavy scenes that makes us weak at the knees. It's the high-stakes emotion scenes, the scenes where the characters really put themselves on the line, where there's something at risk.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Odd's bodkin, Julia! Your comment made me laugh. I have a feeling we'd have plenty to talk about if we met face to face (especially if you surrendered your claim to RA!). Actually I have a wonderful feeling that RA would find our completely stalkerish interest amusing in a sweet way. Hmm, well, perhaps not the bit where I start ripping at his clothing, but the rest of it!

Hey, all the credit's to the divas and to the diva buddies. And I must say the 'gorgeous guy' subject never hurts.

By the way, did anyone check out gorgeous Colin and his tango? Yum!

  68. Caren, I haven't seen any of the Bourne movies. Sounds like I need to. I mean, really, SOUNDS LIKE I NEED TO!!!! The nice thing about all this perving (do Americans have that word?) is that I can pretend it's research rather than good old prurient enjoyment!

When I recently re-watched North and South, purely in the interests of research, I won't tell you how often I hit the rewind button on that last scene ;-) Total swoon material. I think I told you I stole that kiss for a really important moment in Tempt the Devil. Sigh!

  69. Joanna, strangely Richard seems to make women's jaws (and knees!) loosen! I clearly have MUCH competition apart from that wily Julia! Hasn't it been a great fun day? Good luck with your book. It's such a rewarding journey to embark on. I'm not saying there are no storms but you feel such a sense of achievement when you reach port. Hmm, I seem to be channelling some old salt. Thanks again for having me. I've had a ball!

  70. Jo, I can hardly believe Captive of Sin is out in less than a week. Sooooo exciting! Actually - and I know it's heresy in the RA camp - I can't bear Robin Hood. Even RA's attractions can't make me watch - although I have to say he's absolutely delicious in that eyeliner and in all that black leather!

  71. Christine, hands off my new BFF, Julia! I've decided to be gracious about her Richard obsession, especially if she's sharing great pics of the great man himself! Hasn't it been a great day?

  72. Jojo, you're the extra picture queen? I don't think you can have too much of a good thing. Do you? Snort!

  79. Stacey, I haven't seen Independence Day. Sounds like I should. Actually I ADORE the romance in the first Terminator movie. Always makes me cry. I think it's so passionate and tender and makes a lovely counterweight to all the nail-biting action.

  82. Coming in very late! I adored the American version of LIFE ON MARS. The slowly simmering romance between Sam (gorgeous Jason O'Mara) and Annie (Gretchen Mol) was just one of the reasons I loved it. There was a wonderful scene where Sam was in jail and Annie just sat outside the bars to be with him... Sigh!
I'm sure I'll be sighing some more when I read CAPTIVE OF SIN!
