Gather the bridesmaids - it's WEDDING MOVIE NIGHT! #WeddingPlanning #GirlsNight

by JoAnne Kenrick

Wedding planning is the cause of many a dispute,  hair pulling, and stress overloading. Getting that seating chart right, finding the perfect dress, picking the maid of honor without causing a world war, and maybe even sobering up the best man...or the groom! Yup. The lead up to the big day can be chaotic. That doesn't spell fairytale to me.

If you're going ALL THE WAY for your big day, you're probably in need of a little R&R and some giggles with the girls. Or maybe you just need an excuse for a girls movie night. Whatever the reason, kick out the men, gather your bridesmaids, and stock up on the beauty supplies. Prep the Bucks Fizz or Mimosas, and whip up some snacks.

It's WEDDING MOVIE NIGHT!

Muriel's Wedding
MURIEL'S WEDDING
Life in Porpoise Spit, Australia is dull for Muriel. She spends most of her days alone in her room listening to Abba songs and dreaming of her very own wedding day. But she's never had a date, and she's less than popular with the local girls. A blank cheque and a spontaneous decision to go on holiday sends Muriel on a life changing adventure with a new friend and a new home in Sydney.

If it's laughs you want, then look no further .This Aussie cult classic is a MUST-SEE! All she wants is to get married...to anyone. She soon discovers there's more to a wedding than a white dress and corny Abba songs!

MAMMA MIA!
Mama Mia

Yes. More Abba! I wonder if they knew back then that they'd become such a HUGE wedding movie favorite?
Well, Mama Mia! is the story set on the beautiful Greek island of Kalokairi and centered around Sophie Sheridan. The twenty year old bride-to-be is planning for her wedding... everything is perfect except for one thing. She wishes her father could attend. Conveniently, she discovers her mothers diary and within, three fatherly possibilities. She invites each of them to her wedding in hopes one of them is her father. And the adventure and chaos begins...and so do the songs. Lots of songs. And dancing.
Based on a broadway musical, this movie is Abba song laced and sun-tanned packed. Just cover your eyes at the water sprinkler scene. no one needs to see Pierce Brosnan's hanging gut or sweaty, hairy chest. Not pleasant.

27 Dresses
27 DRESSES
Jane Nichols has a HUGE problem. She's addicted to attending weddings and reading a wedding column. And worst of all, she's crazy in love with her boss. Just when she thinks she has a chance with him, her younger sister catches his attention and she becomes their wedding planner. During said plans (of which, lots of things go wrong), she meets her favorite wedding columnist. He's cute. But he's also a pig.  Needless to say, loads of fun wedding mishaps and plans to bring down her sister and get her out of the picture, bring Jane and her columnist together on a rainy night. Just when we think things will work out between them, her boss realizes he has feelings for Jane. Uh-oh. Who will she pick?  Best wedding love triangle movie EVER!

Bride Wars
BRIDE WARS
Two besties have always dreamed of getting wed at the Plaza hotel. Of course that spells trouble when both discover they are to be wed and there's only ONE date available... let the wars begin. It's Hunger Games but with bouquets and invites instead of bows and arrows. And bitch fights and sneaky tricks...anything to swipe the date from the other. Between all the madness, relationships become rocky and not just their friendship is at stake. A riot a minute. And TWO HEAs. Let's not forget to mention Kate Hudson is in it. The queen of chick-flicks.

And if those aren't enough to feed your wedding movie mania, and you need more....

My Big Fat Greek Wedding
A Greek woman breaks free from her family's restaurant and goes in search of herself...along the way, she falls in love with a non-Greek. Her family refuses to accept him at first, but perseverance pays off and she slowly comes to terms with her heritage and cultural identity and has a BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING.

The Wedding Planner
San Francisco's most successful supplier of romance and glamour knows all the tricks. And abides by all the rules. But then she breaks the most important rule of all: she falls in love with the groom.

Leap Year
Anna Brady travels to Dublin, Ireland to propose to her boyfriend Jeremy on February 29, leap day. According to Irish tradition, a man who receives a marriage proposal on a leap day must accept it. But things don't exactly go as planned....

Made of Honor
Best friends, until the guy realizes he loves the girl. He's ready to share how he feels...but she's met someone. And she's engaged to him. The wedding is set for Scotland, and he's willing to do anything to win her heart...even be his maid of honor.

Over the course of five social occasions, a committed bachelor must consider the notion that he may have discovered love. Not one of my favorites, but I hear it's on the top wedding movie list for many.
