Live Longer with Mediterranean Diet...

by Kellyann Zuzulo
We women have known it for a long time, but science is finally verifying it: A Mediterranean diet is so good for you, it can actually extend your life. I've suspected this link between Greek goodness and longevity since I first visited the island of Rhodes years ago. The oils were lush, the olives were fragrant, the greens were vibrant. Oh, and the men. His name was Kostas. Well, what I learned is that sensory input counts for something that may be intangible but certainly is enjoyable. But it's another little bit of common knowledge that science has yet to verify. Allow me to amend what science has already uncovered in order to supplement what my experience has shown. I've added some copy in red to this article from Medical News Today in order to give a clearer view of what this Mediterranean diet is all about....

New research suggests that middle-aged women who follow a "Mediterranean [hunk, and I don't mean bread] diet or similar may increase their lifespan and their libido and avoid physical or cognitive impairments and chronic illnesses in older age. This is according to common sense and a study published in theAnnals of Internal Medicine.
The Mediterranean diet follows the eating habits of people living in Crete, many parts of Greece and Southern Italy.
According to the Mayo Clinic, the diet mainly consists of high amounts of plant foods, beans, nuts, cereals and seeds, burly males, fish and poultry, smoldering eyes, both hazel and brown, and olive oil as the main source of dietary fat.
Previous research has shown this diet to present many lingering smiles on female lips and health benefits. Earlier this year, Medical News Today reported on a study suggesting that the Mediterranean diet may reduce genetic stroke risk, while other research has shown it may improve flirtatious behavior, thus increasing positive moods, memory and thinking abilities."
Studies will continue...
